Family Camp
19th September 2025

In the middle of September families from all the sections in Wateringbury Scout Group came together at Hamlet Wood for the bi-annual family camp. An adventurous weekend was had by all as young people and parents got to try out lots of activities and experience "scout camp". Some of the activities included climbing, orienteering, bushcraft cooking, den building, rope making, soft axe throwing, fire lighting and, of course, petting the cat.
Camp ended in a wonderful campfire, where we were joined by the District Lead Volunteer, Daniel Everest, who presented a variety of awards including a Chief Scout Gold award for one of our Scouts and an Award of Merit for Cub Leader Nicola. This was the first fire to which we added ashes (you can read more about how Wateringbury got involved in this Scouting tradition at KIJ & Gilwell | Wateringbury Scout Group ) and we have collected more in preparation for the next fire. It was a wonderful, and mostly dry weekend, and we hope everyone enjoyed getting involved.
Plans are already afoot for the next one!
